Nancy Lynch Lohn
Age 71 of Shoreview, Minnesota passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on May 24, 2025, at Home Hospice after a prolonged illness. Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Bruce. Nancy is also survived by her children, Christopher (Selene), Jay (Jo Rae), Nathan (Roxanne), Amanda Thompson and Brittaney. She was preceded in death by her son, Jason "Gus Lynch" Gustine. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jake, Jones, Holden, Kira Marie, Evelyn, Josephine, Miles, Makayla and Caleb. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Eunice Lynch and her brother, Lloyd "Scott" Lynch.
Nancy was born in Bridgeport, CT on September 7, 1953. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Rochester, MN. She attended Rochester Junior College, Majoring in Business. Nancy served twenty-one years in The U.S. Army / Reserve and retired at the rank of Master Sergeant. She met Bruce, who also served in the U.S. Army / Reserve and were married at the chapel at Fort Snelling, MN on January 5, 1985.
Nancy and Bruce made a great team and had skills and talents that complimented each other. Nancy played an integral part in Bruce's success as an entrepreneur. She supported him and managed family affairs when Bruce was not home, due to the demands of the enterprises he was involved in.
Nancy and Bruce became very active in AFS (American Field Service an International Exchange program for high school students). Nancy and Bruce were host parents for sixteen exchange students, and they are part of the Lohn family. Camilla Sandvick (Norway), Mathilde Chapelle (France), Sophia Girardi (Austria), Julianna Selig (Brazil), Maria Veit (Germany), Naz Aker (Turkey), Sandra Kosmala (Germany), Noopur Bedi (India), Surapong Supajanya (Thailand), Eline Coenen (Belgium), Gabriela Neto (Brazil), Elizabeth Dotzler (Austria), Valentina Karkelovic Martinez (Chile), Silvia Minicelli (Italy), Simon Meng (Switzerland), and Filipe Aguiar (Brazil). Nancy and Bruce have extended family members throughout the world. Nancy was AFS East Metro Volunteer Representative for many years and was responsible for recruiting families to host Exchange students. During her tenure, her area sponsored up to 40 students a year. Sho lobbied at the U.S. Congress yearly to promote foreign student Exchange programs.
Nancy and Bruce loved to travel and cruise the world. During their travels they have visited over ninety countries. Nancy and Bruce have a second home in Akumal, Mexico and have many friends in that community. Nancy and Bruce have contributed to many charitable causes, including building a medical clinic in Niger, Africa with World Vision (A Christian charitable organization). Nancy had a heart of gold and helped countless people through her service in the U.S. Army and her personal association with people all over the world, especially her AFS children and their families. Nancy was always there to help friends and family in time of need. Nancy was an avid bowler and participated in league bowling most of her adult life.
We will dearly miss her. Above all in life, Nancy enjoyed and loved her family. Her family is truly blessed to have this kind, decent, and giving soul supporting and loving them.
Visitation Wednesday, May 28th from 5-8 PM at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview Chapel; 515 Highway 96 W., Shoreview. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, May 29th at 10:00 AM at St. Odilia Catholic Church; 3495 N. Victoria, Shoreview. Interment to follow at Incarnation Cemetery, Lino Lakes, MN.
An Irish Wake will be held at Washburn-McReavy Shoreview Chapel after the burial.
Memorial donations may be sent to World Vision, a Christian charity.
