Nancy Thompson Lonas, a loving mother, grandmother, and cherished friend passed away unexpectedly on 03-13-2025, at the age of 88. Born on 06-13-1936, in Wise, VA. Nancy was known for being the definition of a lady. Her kindness and love were a true testament to the power of the Lord's presence in her heart. Beyond her role as a mother, Nancy dedicated 30 years to her career at Athens Products, formerly Westinghouse, where she retired. She found joy after retirement, volunteering at Sweetwater Area Ministries (SAMS) for 20 years. Her true happiness, however, was found in loving and serving her family. Through our heartache, we rejoice, knowing she is once again reunited with her father, James Edward Thompson, mother, Dorcus Stone Thompson, sister, Peggy Yearwood, and several loved ones who went on before her.

She leaves behind a loving daughter, Judith Pettitt (Keith) of Sweetwater, and two sons, Mark Lonas (Betsy) of Knoxville and Michael Lonas (Riley) of Cleveland, Grandchildren, Julie Fitch (Kenny), Jonathan Lonas (Jennifer), Laura Shelton (Charles) and most beloved Great Grandchildren, Ava and Ty Fitch, Breann Lonas, Naomi and Cyrus Shelton, brother, John Thompson (June) all of Sweetwater, brother-in-law, Bob Lonas (Kathy) of Loudon, along with a host of nieces and nephews throughout the country.

Friends and family will gather to honor her memory on Wednesday March 19, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM with a funeral service at noon. Kyker Funeral Homes, Sweetwater, will be in charge of services. Burial to immediately follow at Sweetwater Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that donations be made to Fork Creek Presbyterian Church or Sweetwater Area Ministries (SAMS).
