Nancy Lumb, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, March 23, 2025.
She was born May 25, 1946 in Texarkana, Arkansas to Boyd "Larry" and Ruth (Westerfield) Embrey. Nancy earned her bachelor's degree in Social Work from the University of Missouri.
Nancy married Ronald Eugene Lumb on September 3, 1966. He survives of the home.
She and Ron co-owned and operated Ron Lumb's TLC tree service for 20 years.
Nancy was a longtime member of Ashland United Methodist Church and also was active in the St. Joseph Compass Club.
To say Nancy enjoyed reading would be an understatement. She was a voracious reader, mostly of mysteries. The local libraries knew her well and trusted her reviews of new books. She also enjoyed playing in bridge clubs.
A loving wife, mother, and grandmother, Nancy also was one of the "neighborhood moms" who watched over others' children as well as their own.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her husband of 58 years, Ron; sons, Jeffrey Lumb (Lisa) and William "Bill" Lumb (Bryna); grandchildren Felicia, Kira, and Cassie Lumb; sisters, Fran Gremaud and Martha Embrey; brothers- and sisters-in-law, John and Janice Lumb, and Kenny and Kathy Lumb; nieces and nephews, Seth, Adam, Sara, Brian, Angie, and Jana.
Farewell Services 10:00 A.M. Saturday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory. The family will gather with friends 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Friday, Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory.
