Nancy MacMurray died on May 21, 2025, after a valiant battle against COPD. She was born in Long Beach, New York, on March 4, 1941, the daughter of Mary and Alexander MacMurray. She graduated from The Mary Louis Academy, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from The College of Our Lady of Good Counsel, and a Master's Degree in Education from Hofstra University.
Throughout her 30 year career as an elementary school educator, Nancy instilled a love of learning in countless children in the Island Park, NY School district.. She led a vibrant life in New York City and Long Island, had many good friends, travelled widely, and introduced her nieces and nephews to museums and Broadway shows.
She was the last of prior MacMurray generations, having been predeceased by her parents, aunts, uncles, her sister Mary Lou, her brother J. Richard, and her dear, dear brother Dr. Robert MacMurray. She is survived by her nieces and nephews, her loyal cousins, and countless friends.
The family will receive visitors at the Macken Mortuary funeral home at its Island Park location (3930 Long Beach Rd) on Friday July 11, 2025 from 9:00am to 10:30am, followed by an 11:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary of the Isle Church, Long Beach, New York.
Interment will be private, at a later date, at the Cemetery of the Holy Rood, Westbury, NY.
In lieu of flowers, bequests in her name would be welcomed at the North Shore Animal League, Port Washington, New York, which was the source of so much joy in her life, having given her Bentley (who is now happily rehomed with a beloved niece.)
