Selina Ann Herzog

Selina Ann Herzog, also known as the Reverend Mother Ann Frances of the Order of Saint Andrew, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on September 17, 2025, at the age of 90.

Born on December 28, 1934, in Brooklyn, New York, Selina was the daughter of William F. and Florence C. Mellett and was adored by a warm and extended family. Her Father was a proud New York City Fireman who gave Selina a lifelong love of the opera. Her Mother doted on her joyful and musically talented daughter, giving her a superb sense of fashion, and a fondness for reading and being of service to others.

Her family moved to a beautiful home in Jamaica Estates, Queens, where Selina attended and thrived at the Mary Louis Academy, receiving an outstanding education, graduating with honors. She had a keen intellect and this served her well during her long career in writing for the New York Telephone Company, where she stayed until her retirement. It was at the phone company where she met the love of her life, the Most Reverend John Herzog, who she would marry. Together they built a warm and loving home for their family in Scarborough, NY, where they established Holy Innocents Anglican Church and commenced their journey of bringing people to Christ. The Church continues today, providing religious services for those with developmental disabilities. Selina gave us an example of Christian spiritual life, teaching others how to pray, comforting others in need and sharing her talent of singing at various Nursing Facilities throughout Westchester, New York.

Selina loved Christmas, decorating her home every year with delightful displays of brightly glowing trees and Christmas villages, which brought much joy to visiting family and friends. She collected antique dolls that began with a gift of a large German doll she received from her favorite Aunt Annabelle in 1938, which to this day is in perfect condition. She was meticulous in her nature.

Selina is survived by her beloved niece, Mrs. Sharon Prime and her husband Frank, their three children, Patrick, Kerry and Kasey; her nephew, Mr. Dan Mellett and his wife Misty, their two children Riley and Evan; Selina's three daughters, Mrs. Noreen Halbach and her husband Karl, Mrs. Marianne Lorenzen and her husband Bruce, and Mrs. Sheila Sammur and her husband Anthony; five grandchildren, Colin and his wife Zhi, Kirsten, and Ethan Halbach, and Astrid and Fiona Lorenzen; two great-grandchildren, Nora Halbach and Ian Lorenzen.

Reposing Holy Innocents Anglican Church 680 Albany Post Road, Briarcliff Manor, NY 10510 on Thursday September 25th, 10:00am until 12:00 noon at which time a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
