Nancy Morehead Obituary

Nancy “Nan” N. Morehead, 81, of Centennial, Colorado, passed away on November 23, 2025 surrounded by loved ones.

Born on June 29, 1944 in Pueblo, CO, Nan devoted her life to service, community, and compassion for others. She spent many years with the City and County of Denver’s Department of Human Services, where she became known for her steady leadership and her commitment to helping individuals facing homelessness and hardship. As a key liaison between the city and regional service providers, Nan worked closely with the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless and other partner organizations to expand access to supportive housing, public benefits, and essential services for Denver residents in need.

Nan’s work touched countless lives. She was respected for her integrity, her patience, and her ability to navigate complex systems on behalf of others with dignity and determination. She also served in leadership and advisory roles with local policy and nonprofit groups, contributing her voice and expertise to committees focused on poverty, housing stability, and community well-being.

Beyond her professional life, Nan cherished her family and friends. She was a generous listener, a thoughtful mentor, and someone who always found time to lift others up. Her presence, kindness, and spirit of service will be profoundly missed.

Nan is survived by her sons Ryan, Donnie and Dan Morehead, granddaughters Maddy (Austin) Curtright and Claire (Travis) Neve, grandson Gabriel Morehead, great granddaughters Charlotte and Hazel Curtright, great grandson Cooper Neve, brother Kim (Connie) Deal, nephew Tim (Danielle) Deal, niece Shelley (Rob) Corson, and niece Piera Bocciarelli. She was preceded in death by her grandson Mackenzie Morehead and niece Gia Bocciarelli.

A celebration of Nan’s life will be held on December 11, 2025 at Horan and McConaty, 11150 E Dartmouth Ave, Aurora, CO 80014. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Colorado Coalition for the Homeless or to a charity of your choice that reflects Nan’s lifelong dedication to helping others.
