Nancy Chapman Mosley passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the age of 84. She was born on October 12, 1941, in McCall Creek, Mississippi to Carl H. Chapman and Mary Idell. Wilson Chapman. She was a 1959 graduate of Istrouma High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Nancy had a tenured career with the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, where she worked as a bus driver for over 25 years. She was a longtime member of Parkview Baptist Church.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 45 years, C. Denton Mosley; her daughter Carol D. Mosley and her parents, Carl and Idell Chapman.
Nancy is survived by her loving daughters, Cheryl Hawley and her husband Stewart and Carrie Cooper and her husband Charlie, her son-in-law Randy Breland, her adoring grandchildren: Chapman Cooper, Cade Cooper and his wife Miranda, Caitlin Hawley, Casey Hawley and Maya Breland. She is also survived by her siblings, Karla Browning and her husband Darnell, and Cecil Chapman and his wife Anne.
The family would like to acknowledge the compassionate care Nancy received from Gentiva Hospice, as well as the staff at Garden View Assisted Living, who treated her and her family like their own. To the family and friends that visited, please know that your visits meant a lot to Nancy and her daughters.
She enjoyed her morning readings of the newspaper and watching LSU sports, especially Women’s Basketball. She had a great set of neighbors, Pokeno friends and fellow bus drivers who watched out for her in later years. Nancy relished the time she was able to spend with family, especially her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Resthaven Funeral Home, 11817 Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge. A Visitation will be held at the funeral home beginning at 12:00 p.m. The family will attend a private burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
