Let Us Pause To Honor the Memories of
Mrs. Nancy Jane Thornton O'Connell and Charles Robert "Robbie" Freeman
Mrs. Nancy Jane Thornton O'Connell, age 74, of Madison, Indiana, entered this life on August 3, 1947 in Canaan, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late Dallas Clyde "Rud" and Freda D. Reed Thornton. She has resided all of her life in Jefferson County. Nancy attended Central High School. She was blessed with two daughters, Melissa and Tabitha, and one son, Charles. She first began a career with U.S. Shoe Factory in 1973 and worked there until it closed in 1995. Nancy then went to work at the Rite Aid as a cashier for seven years. She most recently worked for Madison Precision as a machine operator until retiring after 16 years. She was a member of the Major Samuel Woodfill Post 9 American Legion Auxiliary. Nancy enjoyed walking and playing bingo. Nancy died on Friday, April 1, 2022, at 1:48 p.m. at her home in Madison, Indiana.
Charles Robert "Robbie" Freeman, age 51, of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, entered this life on August 22, 1967 in Louisville, Kentucky. He was the son of Charles Robert Freeman and Nancy O'Connell. Over the years, he worked as a server at multiple restaurants, including Frisch's Big Boy in both Madison and Lawrenceburg and most recently at Buffalo Wings and Rings in Lawrenceburg. Robbie died on January 2, 2019 at 12:30 p.m. at his home in Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
A LOVING FAMILY
Nancy and Robbie will be missed by her daughters and his sisters, Melissa Keith and her husband, Brian of Madison, Indiana, Tabitha Lamson and her husband, Johnny of Jacksonville, Florida; her grandchildren and his nieces, Meagan, Alexis, Robbie, Amber, Kayla, Douglas, and Everly; her great grandchildren and his great nieces and nephew, Arianna, William, Danielle, and Victoria; her sisters and his aunt, Janet Sue Goins of Madison, Indiana, Marilyn Perazzo and her husband Duane of Sacremento, California, Dorothy Ann Quinn and her husband Charles of Las Vegas, Nevada. They were preceded in death by her father and his grandfather, Dallas Clyde Thornton, died January 24, 1983, her mother and his grandmother, Freda D. Reed Thornton, died March 29, 2011, her brothers and his uncles, Jerry Franklin Thornton, died December 31, 2016, Robert L. "Pat" Thornton, died March 17, 2016, and David Wayne Thornton, died December 19, 1997, and her companion of 15 years, Charlie Mundt, died August 11, 2015.
GRAVESIDE CEREMONY
Graveside ceremony will be conducted Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 10:30 a.m., at Canaan Cemetery in Canaan, Indiana.
MEMORIAL EXPRESSIONS
Memorial contributions may be made to Canaan Cemetery or Major Samuel Woodfill Post 9 American Legion. Cards are available at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centres of Madison and Hanover. Online condolences, remembrances and memorials can be left at www.morgan-nay.com
