Nancy Ann Parker (Tanner) ObituaryNancy Ann Parker (née Tanner), beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 95 on February 12, 2025. Born September 10th,1929 in Cushing, Oklahoma to Leland and Eleanor (Gossett) Tanner, and was cherished by her older sister Pauline.
On August 20, 1950, Nancy married George McClure Parker, and in the following 6 years, she brought her four "most precious" children into the world: Charlotte Cronin (Michael), Janet Parker, Marilyn Eidbo (Carl), and Richard Parker (Avice).
Nancy majored in Music Education at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, taught in Kansas as George studied, and earned her degree in Education at Oklahoma State University.
She was thrilled as each grandchild was added to the family: Daniel Cronin, Anna Cronin, Ashley Eidbo (Jesse), Kelsey Eidbo, Renee Parker (Sebastian) and Steven Parker (Andrea). Her family continued to grow with four great-grandchildren: Alexander, Victoria and Felix Busch-Parker, and another great-grandson expected this spring.
As George's career moved the family, Nancy created loving homes for her family in Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, Iowa, Michigan, Texas, and Minnesota. Nancy and George then settled in Edina and Eden Prairie, Minnesota. After George passed, she resided at Citigables in Hopkins for 18 years, where she served on the Board and actively enjoyed her many friends there.
Nancy was a dedicated member of church wherever she moved. She enthusiastically shared her musical talents as a frequent soloist and choir member, and as a choir director in Des Moines. George and Nancy belonged to Faith Presbyterian Church in Minnetonka, Minnesota, now Faith Church Minnetonka.
Singing and performing in local theater groups were among her favorite activities. Nancy also participated in the Hopkins Women's Club, Stephens College Alumni Association, and Stephen Ministry. She especially enjoyed volunteering at Chapel View Healthcare Center in Hopkins for many years.
She enjoyed travel throughout the US, Europe, Panama, China, and the Holy Land, creating lifetime memories, including braving the rapids of the Colorado River, riding a camel in Egypt on her 50 birthday and floating up in a hot air balloon.
Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Pauline Montgomery (Carl), and infant grandchildren Timothy Andrew and Amy Beth Eidbo.
Her family was her greatest joy, and she lived a life defined by love, kindness, generosity, and a readiness to help others.
A family graveside service at Faith Church, Minnetonka, will be held in the spring.
