Greenville – Nancy F. Pecora, 72, passed away on Monday, August 11, 2025. Services will be held in Chicago.

Nancy was born in Chicago, Illinois to Madeline Miller and Michael M. Pecora, the third child in the family. Nancy attended Catholic elementary school and high school. She proceeded to attend college and was accepted into Rosary College, nowadays known as Dominican University. Nancy developed a strong interest in financial management, which led to her enrolling in DePaul University to obtain her Masters in Business Administration.

Since graduating, she held positions at several of the large corporations in the Chicago area (ex. TRW). Nancy was then hired by BISCO, at that time a large company making filling materials and adhesives for dentistry. BISCO, in Schaumberg, IL is still producing materials that are used worldwide. The development process for new dental materials intrigued Nancy, such that her next career step was getting involved in the development of better materials. Nancy joined a research team in dental materials at the Dental School of the University of Tennessee at Memphis. Nancy retired from the school in Memphis and settled in Greenville, NC to be near friends and avoid the Chicago winters. Her work has influenced dentistry, and she has made great developments in microscopic analysis of dental decay.

She is survived by her sister, Mary Peyton and husband Reginald; and fiancé Waldemar de Rijk.
