The family will receive friends Thursday from 5 to 7 pm at Smith Funeral Service. A private graveside will be held at Evergreen Memorial Estates.
Kim was born on November 27, 1969, in Greenville and lived most of her life in the Pitt County area. She graduated from Ayden Grifton High School in 1989 and worked various jobs in manufacturing. She had lots of hobbies including watching tv shows, Sons of Anarchy, The Vampire Diaries, and Animal Kingdom. But her best time was spent with her grandchildren and family.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Seth and Lucy Dupree and Preston and Esther Strickland; brother, Scott Dupree; and nephew, Brandon Armstrong.
Kim is survived by her two children, Tyerica Barrett (Michael) and Tykeria Artis; grandchildren, Nautica, Amiya, Arie'anna, Niy'Keyceon, Zi'yaun, Jaxon, Elaina, and Marley; parents, Johnnie and Gail Dupree; husband, Chris Artis; sister, Amy Castleberry (Chris); nieces and nephew, Nikole Dupree (Kaylia), Preston Dupree (Madeline) and Aeryn Castleberry; special friends, Christy Davis and Melissa Williams; and sister-in-law, Latasha Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smith Funeral Service to assist the family with funeral expenses.
