Nancy Ann (Wood) Plants of Columbia MD, formerly of Capon Bridge WV and Laurel MD, passed away on December 13, 2024. She was 86.
Nancy is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 62 years, Harold E. Plants; also, her sister, Mary Lou Hardman and brother, Robert Wood.
Nancy was born January 26,1938 in Wheeling WV, daughter of the late Tom and Elizabeth Shafer Wood.
In 1968, Nancy began her career as a "Lunch Lady" at Margaret A. Edmonston Elementary School in Laurel, MD. She retired as Cafeteria Manager after 23 years.
Nancy was a member of WV American Legion Post 137 Auxiliary for many years, and served as Sergeant of Arms, Girls State Store Manager and Scrapbook Chairwoman.
Nancy adored being with her family, especially all the babies. She cherished being Mom, Gram, Grandma Nan, and Aunt Nan and loved to play Bingo, card games, and do puzzles. She enjoyed camping, crocheting, cooking and canning, collecting teapots and playing the piano. She was a social butterfly making cherished friends throughout her lifetime.
Nancy is survived by her children, Lou Ann Crook (Joseph), Michael Plants (Jean), and Deborah Sampugna (Joseph), grandchildren, Kari Calhoun (Aaron), Kevin Griffith, Anthony Sampugna (Michelle Coffel), Ann Stortz (Martin), Katherine Vitti (Anthony), Julia Dubyoski (James), Alison Lanasa (Marcus), David Crook (Jody), 22 great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Kalleigh, Kevin, Adelei, Owen, Samuel, Oliver, Thomas, Francesca, Madeleine, Everett, Logan, Marcia, Sophia, Wyatt, Dominic, Roman, Owen, Joseph, Henry, Hunter and Cooper, and a great-great granddaughter Isla, her brother Thomas Wood (Patricia), many nieces and nephews and so many wonderful friends.
A Memorial Service will be held for both Nancy and Harold Plants on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Glen Mar Church in Ellicott City with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by the service at 11:00 AM and interment at St John's Cemetery in Ellicott City.
