Lynn Best (née Pompieri), 65, of College Park, Maryland, dearly beloved wife of the late Randy Best, passed away in the morning of August 4th, 2025.

Lynn was born on October 5th to Rachel Dorothy Pompieri (née Frazier) and Joseph Pompieri in Takoma Park, Maryland, becoming the youngest of three children. During high school, she met the love of her life Randy Best while working as a waitress at a restaurant named Gino's. She would often give him free food, exemplifying the adage that the quickest way to a man's heart is through his stomach. Later, she used her exceptional typing skills to do secretarial work for Lockheed-Martin and the USDA.

In 2008, several tragedies struck in rapid succession. Lynn's sister Joan Skipper, who she was very close to, passed suddenly and without warning, after which Lynn herself was diagnosed with breast cancer. However, Lynn was ultimately a survivor, beating both grief and cancer to enjoy many more years with her family, whose lives she brightened with her spontaneous jokes and contagious laughter. A religious woman dedicated to God, Lynn prayed daily for the health of her family, friends, and others. She was a nature lover much like her husband Randy, but instead of plants, she doted on animals, taking time out of her day to feed the wildlife around her home. Despite being of limited means, she often donated what she could regularly. She enjoyed playing puzzle games with her family and was always willing to solve anyone's problems to the best of her ability.

Lynn is survived by her nephew David Skipper, who was always in her thoughts, and her brother Patrick Pompieri, who she knew she could always count on to be at her side. Last but not least, she is also survived by her loving daughter Candy-Lynn Best, who dedicated nearly every waking moment to ensuring Lynn's comfort and peace after a sudden stroke left her bed-bound.

She will be dearly missed, but our loss is God's gain.

"I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive." - Acts 20:35
