With great sadness, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Nancy Carole Smith Pope, who peacefully went home on August 29, 2025 at the age of 77. She was born on August 31, 1947, in Houston, Texas, and lived a life full of love, kindness, dedication, and selflessness.
Nancy, known as Nan, was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She dedicated her life to caring for her family and friends. Nancy loved gardening, cooking, little children, and letting everyone know just how she felt about the world around her on FaceBook. Her quick wit, no-nonsense personality kept everyone on their toes, and her generosity touched the lives of many. Nancy remained connected and shared enduring relationships with her numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Nancy moved to Crockett in 1990 where she raised her son, Gregg and was closer to her daughter, Samantha, while she attended Sam Houston State. While in Crockett, she was an active member of Central Baptist Church. Nancy retired from the City of Crockett, where she worked in the Water Department, and eventually made her way to Tomball, Texas to be closer to her children and grandchildren. At Home Town Senior Community in Tomball, Nancy was a pillar in her community. She served on the Care Team where she provided support and comfort to her neighbors and also offered rides to those who needed transportation. Nancy would also help with leading weekly bible studies, and she enjoyed sharing her faith and love of Jesus. She was a proud, 30-year survivor of
lung cancer.
Nancy is survived by her daughter, Samantha Farrill and son-in-law, David Farrill of Klein; son, Gregg and beloved daughter-in-law, Karen of Brookshire; grandsons, Will and Ben Davis, Grady and Bryce Pope; step-grandson, Jacob Farrill. She is also survived by her sister, Dianne White of San Antonio, Texas, beloved nephew, Dr. Wade White and his family, Lisa, Walker, Katie and Jackson of San Antonio, beloved niece and nephew, Karle and Riley Gonyou of Cibalo, Texas, and niece, Taylor Allen of Houston. Nancy is also survived by numerous extended in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie B and Gladys Smith, brother-law, Ray White, niece, Ashley Allen, grandson Tyler Heath Davis, grandparents, and numerous cousins and friends.
Mom, your love and guidance will remain in our hearts forever. The impact you made on so many has been a blessing, and the world was made a better place because of you.
