She graduated from Joe T. Robinson High School in Little Rock. She was self taught and self reliant in all of her endeavors. She retired from working at Lawson Elementary School where she was secretary/bookkeeper for 25 years. In addition to those duties, she was often called upon at Lawson to fill in as a surrogate nurse while checking for cooties with two #2 pencils, handing out bandaids, and telling students they weren’t as sick as they said and sending them back to class. She also emceed the Talent Shows there, writing her own jokes and unashamedly laughing at them with her 3x5 index cards in hand.
Christina was a lifetime member of Crystal Hill Baptist Church where she served faithfully as Vacation Bible School Director where she famously said, “Good morning boys and girls and faculty members,” and we all replied (including her family), “Good morning, Mrs. Posey.” For years she supplied and arranged fresh flowers for the altar. She served as church secretary for many years. Christina worked with Youth for Christ as a sponsor and was involved with the Women’s Missionary Union.
Church was at the center of her personal, family, and social life. She enjoyed hunting, fishing, cooking and going to church even when on vacation. She could outhunt you, outfish you, outwit you and beat you at dominoes. She was fearless, afraid of no one and nothing except for storms. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Senior Citizens of Crystal Hill Baptist Church.
