Nancy L. Powell

Nancy Lynn Powell, 49, of Tallula, passed away at St. John's Hospital, in Springfield, at 6:05 a.m., on Monday, September 22, 2025. She was born September 23, 1975, in Springfield, Illinois, to Elmer William "Bill" and Della (Brown) Blakeman. She married Jay Powell on July 22, 2004, in Springfield, Illinois. Nancy is survived by her husband, Jay, of Tallula; two sons: Cory (fiancée Brandi Roberts) Powell, of Springfield, Logan Powell, of Petersburg; mother: Della Blakeman; siblings: Mark W. (Lisa) Blakeman of Russell Springs, Kentucky, Melissa L. Blakeman of Springfield, Illinois, and Patricia L. (Jim) Niemeier, of Pleasant Plains, Illinois; father-in-law, Gerald W. Powell, Sr.; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer "Bill" Blakeman, grandparents, and mother-in-law, Cynthia Powell; as well as her beloved dog, Copper. Nancy was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, in Tallula. She was active in the 97 Crusaders Car Club in Petersburg. She enjoyed crochet, knitting and crafting. She had worked for the Legislator's Office at the Illinois House of Representatives in Springfield for several years. A visitation will be held at Hurley Funeral Home, in Petersburg, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 11:00 a.m., until 1:00 p.m. Cremation rites will follow the visitation.
