Nancy Ruth Richardson

Nancy McConnell Richardson, age 79, of Atlanta, GA passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 after complications from dementia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Howard Richardson, Jr. in 2011. Nancy is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Scott Richardson and Elizabeth Richardson, son David Richardson, grandchildren Darion Williams, Jordan Griffin and Cavin Richardson, nephew Curtis Callaway and niece Leigh Ann Lewis.
Nancy was born on August 5, 1942 in Atlanta, GA. She was the older of 2 sisters born to William and Ruth McConnell. Nancy and her younger sister, Judy were always the closest of friends throughout their lives. Nancy loved bowling, playing golf and singing in her church choir.
Her life is best remembered by two distinct passions. She loved teaching children in Sunday School. She began teaching children's Sunday School at Clairmont Hills Baptist Church in Decatur, GA for several years. Shortly after moving to Valdosta, GA in 1980, she began teaching 2nd grade Sunday School classes at First Baptist Church of Valdosta, and did so for over 30 years. So many of the children she taught remember her for her laughter, and for her encouragement of 7-and-8-year-olds to "have something to say."
Nancy also loved playing bridge. Many of the decades-long friendships she gained were started around a bridge table. She was the long-time Manager of the Valdosta Duplicate Bridge Club. Regardless of where she was, whether she was at the bridge table, the bowling alley, the choir loft, or in a Sunday School classroom, she will always be remembered for these four words: "Remember Who You Are".
