Nancy was born on September 30, 1955, in Primghar, IA to Julius and Betty (Chesley) Hoger. In 1973, she graduated from Paullina High School in Paullina, IA and went on to Concordia Teachers College in Seward, NE, graduating in 1977 with a degree in elementary education. That led her to a teaching job in Linn, KS, where she met the love of her life, Bruce Rogge. The two were united in marriage at the Zion Lutheran Church in Paullina on July 29, 1978. They were blessed with two sons, Dustin and Brent.
Nancy taught for many years in the local grade schools (Linn Lutheran, Greenleaf, Linn and Washington). Her kindness, patience, and creativity made her a favorite teacher to many. When she wasn’t busy with school, you could find her working with Bruce on the farm. The daughter of a farmer, Nancy was great help! She was also very active in St Paul Lutheran Church of Palmer and the Palmer Community Building.
Family was important to her. She loved spending time with (and spoiling) her grandchildren. She always looked forward to going to Iowa for Thanksgiving and spending time with family there. A woman of many talents with a generous heart, Nancy made many quilts and completed various sewing projects for others. She also liked making diamond art projects.
Preceding her in death were her parents; mother and father-in-law, Hank and Elsie Rogge; brother, Jan Hoger; sisters, Jane Rhodes and Julie Grayson; and brothers-in law, Jay Fritz and Steve Grayson.
Survivors include her husband, Bruce; sons, Dustin (Keri) Rogge, Brent (Heather) Rogge, both of Palmer; sisters, Dee Dee (Mike Tesch) Fritz, Paullina, IA, Marcy (Alan) Oehmke, Palmer; brothers, Larry (Deanne) Hoger, Paullina, IA; brother-in-law, Royce (Chris) Rogge, Riley; and grandchildren, Isaiah, Isaac, Elijah, Hadlee and Hoyt; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial fund is established to St Paul Lutheran Church or St. Jude's. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home in Washington, KS.
