Nancy York Cox Saunders, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the age of 84.
A celebration of Nancy's life will be held at Bethel Friends Meeting, on Sunday, May 19, 2024, at 3:00 p.m., with Pastor Ben Hurley officiating. Burial will follow in the Meeting's cemetery. Friends and family will gather to honor and remember the beautiful life she lived. Nancy was a longtime member of Bethel Friend Meeting.
Born on January 23rd, 1940, Nancy lived a life filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Nancy was a talented seamstress, sought after for her exquisite craftsmanship in creating dresses, handmade apparel, and interior drapery. Nancy's creative talents knew no bounds as she crafted prom dresses, wedding gowns, and garments of all kinds. Alongside her late husband Marvin Cox, she owned and operated several fabric shops in the area over the years.
Nancy found love again with Roger Saunders, whom she married in 1994, was deeply devoted, and shared many decades of joy and companionship. Nancy's love and nurturing spirit extended to her children and their families. She leaves behind her children: Philip Cox and his wife Susan, Jeffrey Cox and his wife Teresa, Douglas Cox and his wife Jenny Chapman, Susan Thompson and her husband Frank, Kenneth Cox, and Timothy Cox and his wife Paige. Additionally, she is survived by step-daughter, Terri Wheeler.
Nancy adored her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride: Alison Held (Cory), Brandon Cox (Camila), Jason Cox, Cameron Cox, Collin Cox, Ian Cox, Aaron Thompson, Emily Leonard (Matthew), Abbie Thompson, Riley Cox, Finley Cox, and step grandson, Adam Saunders (Brittany). She was also blessed with great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Colton, and Isabel.
In addition to her immediate family, Nancy will be deeply missed by her extended family, friends, and all those who knew her.
The family will receive friends at the church from 1:45 - 2:45 p.m. on Sunday, prior to the service.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Randolph, 416 Vision Drive, Asheboro, NC 27203.
