Nancy Lee Savoy

Nancy Lee Savoy, 80 years old, of Terry Lane in Williston, died on Tuesday, December 23 at home
She was born on September 10, 1945 at the Mary Fletcher hospital in Burlington, Vermont She was a graduate of Winooski High School in 1964 and pursued a CDA degree in early education
She was predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her special friend of 53 years Patti Parker; special cousin, Jim, Stuart and his son James, and his Son Kolson; and by many cousins and numerous friends. A special mention of Louise Burnells, Linda Trombley, Luanne Tatro, Glenna Myers, Mary and Stan, Carroll, Jeffery Dixon, Sheila Fahey, and Arthur Cardinal.
Nancy started her career working at Saint Michael's College in the library and the dining hall. She then went on to be a preschool teacher for Headstart for 43 years. Nancy touched the lives of countless children and families in her professional and private life, and being an advocate for children was a priority along with building close relationships that continued long after her teaching days were through. She always said that children kept her young. She was honored by the families who still kept in touch with her to let her know about their successes.
Nancy's most favorite life's pleasures were her love of animals, especially Buffy; music and dancing at the St. John's club, playing bingo at the Winooski Senior Center, camping at Hislop's Landing, fishing, and going to the Champlain Valley Fair and Disney World, just to name a few.
Nancy was best known for her wit. She excelled in the delivery of constant joke telling, knowing her audience for appropriate materials in the landing of a punch line. Even the EMT's in the hospital staff were treated by her sense of humor at the difficult times. We have heard from many people on how much they appreciated her for the love and attention that she gave their children, and what she gave to every child, respect, education and love.
Nancy was a member of the VFW in Essex Jct, the Eagles Club of Milton, the American Legion of Colchester, and St. John's Club of Burlington.
Special thanks to friends Patti and Jim; Bayada LNA nurse Dennis Beauregard and the Bayada team. Together, they helped to fulfill Nancy's wishes to be at home during her journey.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, January 3, from 11am to 1pm with a service to follow at 1:00pm at LaVigne Funeral & Cremation Service,132 Main Street, Winooski. Father Charlie will offer a few words on Nancy's behalf. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Following the service, family and friends are welcome to gather at the Delta Hotel ( Duke's )1117 Williston Rd. in So. Burlington to share a meal and recall fond memories.
