Nancy (Allen) Spano, 82, of Middleboro, MA, passed away peacefully on August 5, 2025 after a brief illness. Born and raised in Framingham, MA, she was one of eight children born to parents William and Mildred (MacIntyre) Allen. After graduating from Framingham High School, Nancy trained to become an x-ray technologist at Faulkner Hospital where she would make lifelong friends and pick up the nickname "Cindy" to distinguish her from the other three Nancys in the x-ray department. One of those Nancys would fix up her good friend "Cindy" on a blind date with Frank Spano of Dorchester who worked for Liberty Mutual in Pennsylvania. After courting long distance, they soon married, and to this day, she is still known as "Cindy" by Frank's family and old friends. Nancy and Frank started their married life together in Pennsylvania where their son was born, before relocating back to Massachusetts to be nearer to their families. They chose to settle in Marshfield where their daughter would be born and named after one of "Cindy's" dearest Faulkner friends. Nancy was the ultimate homemaker in the best possible sense. Her beautifully kept home, yard, and family were an outward reflection of the love she had for each and the pure joy each brought her. She loved to go to yard sales, bringing home special treasures she would refinish and restore and give new life. Nancy was never happier than when she was barefoot in her yard, with a can of paint and a new yard sale treasure, her children happily playing with their Fisher Price toys, and a roast in the oven. Eventually, she would build her own career as a sales representative at Liberty Mutual in Hingham and make more great friends before retiring to Oak Point in Middleboro. Puttering around her little house and yard still brought her so much peace and joy along with her two grandsons who would play with those same Fisher Price toys whenever they came to visit Nanny. Her life was a simple one where taking care of her home, family, and friends were really all that mattered. She believed in mailing handwritten thank you notes, birthday cards with money inside, baking chocolate cakes to celebrate any occasion or none at all; and doling out seasoned advice, whether or not it was asked for. Nancy leaves behind a legacy of hard work, simple living, countless lives touched by her kind ways, and an adoring family: her son, Francis Spano, Jr. of Bourne, MA; her daughter, Susan Spano Piacenti of Tiverton, RI; her grandsons Anthony Piacenti of Greenville, SC, and Michael Piacenti, of Ann Arbor, MI; her siblings Richard Allen of Rochester, NY; Donald & Michelle Allen of Mashpee, MA; Ronald & Donna Allen of Shrewsbury, MA; Martha & Bruce Johnson of Mashpee; and brother-in-law William & MaryBeth Spano of East Bridgewater, MA. Viewing hours will be Friday, August 15, 2025 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a Funeral Service at 11:00 a.m. at the MacDonald Funeral Home, 1755 Ocean Street in Marshfield. Interment will be in the Couch Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made online at HopeHealth In Memoriam or sent to HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main St., Providence, RI 02904.
