Nancy Louise Stewart, 80, of Shinnston, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2025, surrounded by the love and presence of her family.
Born on November 24, 1944, Nancy was the treasured daughter of the late Wilbert and Thelma Drake. A woman of unwavering faith and quiet strength, she was a devoted member of Calvary Temple in Fairmont, West Virginia, where she and her husband, Roger, served faithfully. Together, they found great purpose in their work with RHS Prison Ministriessharing Gods word, singing, and offering hope to others was not only Nancys calling but her joy.
Her smile could brighten the darkest day, and her heart knew only kindness. Nancy had a unique gift for making people feel seen, heard, and deeply valued. Her grace, patience, and compassion left an imprint on everyone she met.
She embraced the simple joys in lifebowling with loved ones, sharing laughter with friends, and above all, celebrating holidays surrounded by family. Nancy truly loved the holidaysany excuse to bring people together brought her happiness. These gatherings created memories that will be cherished for generations.
Nancy also adored her little Yorkie, Jadie, who brought endless joy and comfort to her life. Their bond was incredibly special, and Jadie was always by her side, especially in her final days.
Nancy is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Roger Stewart; her three sons: Roger Stewart II and wife Angie, Shawn Stewart and husband Stewart Strickland, and Lance Stewart and wife Heather; and her stepdaughter, Lisa Fluharty. She is also lovingly remembered by her sisters: Peggy Drake, Betty Phillips, Norma Watson, and Lana Libby.
She was a proud and devoted grandmother to Abigail Stewart, Caleb Stewart, Austin Stewart, Karibee Steele, Chase Steele, Levi Fluharty, and Corey Fluharty. She also lovingly embraced her step-granddaughter, Audrey Cadier, and proudly called herself Audreys grandma.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her dear mother-in-law Belvia Rice, and father-in-law Kenneth Rice.
Nancys legacy is one of deep love, faith in action, and a life that truly reflected compassion, service, and family. She will be missed beyond measure, but her spirit lives on in the hearts and memories of those who had the joy of knowing her.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 14th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Calvary Temple, 28 Calvary Lane, Fairmont, WV 26554.The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 15th, at 11:00 AM, also at Calvary Temple.
Following the service, the family and guests are invited to the burial at West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton at 1:00 PM. A meal and time of fellowship will follow at 2:30 PM, back at Calvary Temple, for all who wish to gather, remember, and celebrate her life.
