Obituary published on Legacy.com by Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel - Knoxville on Dec. 1, 2023.
Nancy Copenhaver Stinnette, 96, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2023. Preceded in death by her parents, Dr. and Mrs. M.M. Copenhaver; beloved husband, John C. Stinnette; and sister, Virginia C. Wilson. She was a life-long Knoxville resident and loved being active. Being a sixty-year member of Beaver Brook Country Club, she enjoyed bingo, bridge, and many other social events. During her years at Beaver Brook, she proudly became the first female elected to the Board of Directors, serving four terms. She found her real passion in life in politics. A long-time poll worker and officer for Knox County Election Commission and charter member of the Northwest Democrat Club. She worked tirelessly for local and state candidates including former Governor, Phil Bredesen.
Those left behind to carry on her legacy are her devoted son, John M. Stinnette and daughter-inlaw, Debbie Stinnette; grandsons, Blake Stinnette (Leigh) of Franklin, TN, and Chase Stinnette (Caitlin); great grandchildren, Ava, Hadley, Ansley, Banks, and Finley; cousin and dear friend, Judy C. Greene; nephew, Charles David Wilson.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Windsor Ridge Assisted Living, UT Hospice, and Chaplain Phil Groos. Their care, love, and support has been invaluable. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer's Association, Children's Hospital, or the charity of your choice. A graveside service will be held 1:00pm on Monday, December 4th at Bookwalter Cemetery (4218 Central Avenue Pike, Knoxville, TN 37912) with Chaplain Phil Groos officiating.
