In Loving Memory of Nancy Tetens

1943 - 2026

Nancy Tetens, 82, of Sherman, Texas, passed away peacefully with her family beside her on February 27, 2026. She was born on August 21, 1943, in Sherman, Texas, to Robert Edward Parrish and Reba Hestand Parrish, who preceded her in death.

Raised in Sherman, Nancy experienced frequent moves during her childhood as her father served in the United States Air Force. Those early years helped shape the strength, resilience, and independence that defined her life.

Nancy was a Christian woman whose faith was quiet but deeply rooted. She lived her life serving others with kindness, generosity, and compassion. She was strong-willed, nurturing, deeply loving, and endlessly giving. Her heart was bigger than anyone who knew her could fully describe.

She worked for the Texas Department of Human Services faithfully dedicating herself to her career before retiring alongside her lifelong best friend and sister by heart, Debbie Yeager after 31 years of service. Their bond was one of loyalty, shared memories, and steadfast support — not just in work, but in life. Together, they helped raise children, weather life’s storms, and build a lifetime of friendship.

Nancy was preceded in death by her children, Robert Tetens and Sonya Tetens Stacy. Despite enduring unimaginable loss, she remained the pillar of strength for her family. For many years, she raised her children and grandchildren largely on her own, doing whatever it took to provide for them — often sacrificing her own needs without hesitation. She was the kind of woman who would give her last dollar to help someone else, even if it left her with nothing. Her generosity knew no limits just like her love for her family.

Her greatest pride and joy was her family. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Nicholas Tetens and his son, Casen Tetens; Lacey Karlik and her husband Justin Karlik, and their children Gavin and Makayla; and Natalie Urbanek and her husband Ryan Urbanek, and their children Ethan, Elizabeth, Gracie, Nancy, Rachel, Juliette, and soon-to-arrive Wyatt. She was also blessed with many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren who filled her life with love and purpose.

Nancy found peace in tending to her garden, nurturing plants with the same care she gave her family. She was an animal lover to her core and never turned away a stray — feeding all the neighborhood cats and even opossums to make sure no living creature went hungry. Her compassion extended to all of God’s creation.

Nancy’s life was one of sacrifice, faith, resilience, and unconditional love. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she poured into her family will continue to grow for generations to come.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 6th, at Azle & Lake Worth Funeral Home, located at 850 N Cardinal Rd, Azle, Texas 76020, beginning at 1:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service at 2:00 p.m with her burial to follow afterwards at Azleland Memorial Park.

To all her grandbabies …..“See you later alligator.”
