Nancy Kathryn Wright

Nancy Wright, 93, of Lubbock passed from this life on August 9,2024. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 pm on Sunday, August 11,2024 at Krestridge Funeral Home. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, August 12,2024 at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church of Levelland. Graveside Services will take place at 11:00 am on Wednesday, August 14,2024 at Wetumka Cemetery in Wetumka, Oklahoma. 

Nancy Kathryn Wright was born on February 20, 1931 in the front bedroom of a small farmhouse in Paden Okla to parents, Irvin Lester Sheets and Theola Wade Sheets. She weighed only 2lbs. She began her fight for life and her fight ended at age 93 on August 9, 2024. Nancy grew up on a farm in Paden, Oklahoma and attended school in a one room school house called Garden Grove where she graduated at 16 years of age. She attended East Central college in Ada, Oklahoma where she graduated with a degree in education. She began teaching in Duncan, Oklahoma where she met her husband Newell E. Wright Sr. They married on May 28, 1954 in Lawton, Oklahoma and moved to Texas. She taught school for 48 years only taking a few years off when she had her children Kathy, Candy and Mitch. She taught school in Levelland, Amherst, Whitharrel and retired from Smyer ISD. Nancy loved her students like they were family and enjoyed her school life. 

Nancy was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Phi sorority in college, Beta Sigma Phi sorority in Levelland, The First Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and sang in the Choir. Nancy loved the Lord and was a faithful servant. She was still singing hymns until her death and now she is singing in Heaven.

She is survived by her children, Kathy and husband Darrell Arms of Dublin Texas, Candy Baack of Lubbock Texas, Mitch and wife, Brenda Wright of Lubbock Texas; stepson, Newell E. Wright and wife, Julie of Clinton, Oklahoma and step daughter in-law, Betty Wright; her grandchildren, Rikki Limbacher, John Wade (Duke) Hoy, Cole Baack, Kirk Baack, Reagan Benson, Cameron Wright; her step grandchildren, Deborah Goldsmith, Charlotte Haxel, Richard Haxel, Carrie Foster, Allen Wright, Lance Wright and Kathryn Alardin along with 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two stepchildren, Patricia Haxel and Harvey Allen Wright and great grandchild, Dean Michael Baack.
