CORDELE - Nannie Lee Owens, age 80, died Saturday, November 15, 2025, at her residence in Cordele, Georgia. The family will hold services at a later date.
Nannie was born on June 25, 1945, in Celina, Tennessee, to the late Jessie Gee Westmoreland and Madie Sams Westmoreland. She was a homemaker and a member of Wenona Baptist Church of Cordele, Georgia.
Nannie loved spending time with her kids and her grandkids, but her best pastime was spending time with her daughter, Cassie, and shopping. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking a big meal for anyone who came to visit.
She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Aubrey Owens; her children: daughter, MaryAnn (Jacob) Whiddon from Georgetown, Ga.; son, Michael (Meagan) Jacups, from Cookesville, Tennessee; daughters: Tammy Owens Wright and Cassie Owens from Cordele. Nannie has 6 grandchildren: Tate (Gabie) Whiddon of Leesburg, Ga., Ashley (Grant) Muse of Moultrie, Ga., Alex (Evan) Tully of Leesburg, Ga., Keagan, Caleb, and Skylar Jacups of Tennessee; 7 great-grandchildren: Rylan and Ayden Muse, Eslee and Rhett Whiddon, Kaison, Joseph, and Kenna Tully.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by all her siblings: brothers, Duke, Pete, Grover, and David Westmoreland; and sisters, Mary Watson and Betty Jo Walker; and a loving friend that she thought of as one of her daughters, Bailey Calhoun.
