Naomi Jean Gaboda, a beacon of warmth and generosity, passed away peacefully from natural causes on September 1, 2025, in
San Antonio, Texas. Born on March 8, 1935, in Colver, Pennsylvania, Naomi's life was a testament to the love and joy she brought to everyone she knew.
Naomi, a devout Christian, lived her faith through her actions, touching the lives of many with her loving and friendly nature. She was the cherished wife of the late Michael Gaboda and a dedicated mother to Lynn Schumacher, & Lynn's husband, Chuck, Michael Gaboda, and his wife Mandy, & Thomas Gaboda & his wife, Tina & Jeffrey Gaboda, deceased. Naomi's family was the cornerstone of her life, and she embraced her roles as a mother-in-law to Chuck and Mandy & Tina and a grandmother and great-grandmother with open arms and an open heart.
Her legacy is celebrated by her loving family, including her adored grandchildren, Shelley, Phillip, Michael (and his wife Yvonne), Mark, Valerie (and her husband Rick), Stephanie, Megan, and Shelby; and her treasured great-grandchildren, Emma, Mickey, Penelope, Mark, Gabriella, Bane, Rene, Alicia (and her husband Tony), Vivian, Niko, Cass, and Penelope. The newest joy in her life came from her great-great-grandchildren, Ollie and Yaretzi, who brought her immense happiness.
Naomi's journey of lifelong learning began at Ebensburg High School in Ebensburg, PA, where she graduated before embarking on a diverse career. She spent years as a car salesperson in Topeka, KS, where she honed her ability to connect with people from all walks of life. Naomi also served her community as a cashier at the commissary at Lackland AFB in
San Antonio, TX, and through her work cleaning homes, she made lasting friendships that endured through the years.
Her interests were as varied as they were passionate. Naomi found joy in the simple pleasures of reading and unraveling the mysteries of crossword puzzles. A fierce competitor at heart, she relished game nights with family and friends, where her favorite board games, Yahtzee, Trivial Pursuit, and Scrabble, were often played. Naomi was an avid fan of the game show network, particularly Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, and she shared her enthusiastic support for the Pittsburgh Steelers and the San Antonio Spurs with anyone who would listen.
Naomi's generous spirit extended beyond her family and interests. She was a friend to many, known for her willingness to lend a hand or an ear whenever needed. Her laughter was infectious, her advice was sought after, and her presence was a comfort to those around her.
As we remember Naomi, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. Her impact on the world was as profound as the values she embodied: kindness, compassion, and a generosity of spirit that knew no bounds.
Naomi Jean Gaboda's memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to inspire those who were blessed to know her.
