Nathan Iyer Obituary
Nathan Ram Iyer (also known as Rama) was born in Trenton, NJ on June 11, 1983, and starred in his first video at the age of one day old. He was one of the first babies to be born in the Mercer Medical Center Mother-Baby Unit, which was revolutionary at the time, as it allowed babies to stay in the room with their mothers instead of in the nursery. A local film crew took footage of Pat and Nathan.
Nathan grew up in Delaware Township, a rural part of western NJ, where he enjoyed walks in the woods. He graduated from Hunterdon Central High School and attended both Swarthmore College and College of New Jersey, where he learned computer science skills. He became interested in spiritual matters while in college, and became certified as a yoga and meditation instructor by Ananda, a community based on the principles of Yogananda.
Always fascinated by the ability of computers to create games, Nathan devoted much of his time to creating a nonviolent computer game, which got close to launching but did not come to fruition. He also worked for a medical software/hardware company on a product that would allow doctors and nurses to remotely monitor patients.
His last job was working for a computer gaming company, 1047.
Nathan has always been a highly sensitive, gentle soul who deeply felt the needs of others and wished he could help others achieve peace. He provided spiritual counseling and remote healing for many years.
He was married for 2 years to Gabrielle, a native of Australia. He is survived by his parents, Pat and Raj Iyer. He has a brother, Dharmaraj Iyer, who is a minister for the Ananda Community in Chennai, India, along with his wife, Dharmini. Nathan's aunt is Connie Sohodski, who has 2 children: Hawk Myczack, married to Emily. They have a son Lyric. Connie's other child is Crystal.
Nathan's uncle is Glenn Weiser, married to Patricia, and they have a son, Andrew, who is married and has a child. Nathan had a second uncle, Doug, now deceased,
Nathan's other cousin is Girija Kalyanaraman, married to Ramu of Chennai. Their children are Vignesh and Vardhni, who are both married and have children.
