Nathan McElhaney Obituary

Nathan Ray McElhaney, 38, of Hector, Arkansas, passed from this life on Friday, December 26, 2025, at UAMS Hospital in Little Rock.

Born April 8, 1987, in Little Rock, Arkansas, he was the son of Rev. Jim and Regina Rue Crabtree McElhaney.

Nathan was a man of deep faith, a true visionary, and a devoted servant of the church he loved so dearly. He was a faithful member of Scottsville Word of Life, where he served in many roles, including deacon, member of the worship team, media coordinator, and young adults pastor. Nathan had a special heart for the youth of the church and invested countless hours mentoring, encouraging, and guiding young people in their faith. His vision for the future of the church was evident in every project he touched, including the design of the church building he so passionately supported.

On June 14, 2008, Nathan married the love of his life, Faith Humphrey McElhaney, in Scottsville, Arkansas. Together they built a life centered on faith, family, and service to others. Nathan was a devoted husband to Faith and a loving father to Ella and cherished every moment with his family.

Professionally, Nathan was a Senior Reactor Operator at Arkansas Nuclear One, where he was respected for his knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic.

He enjoyed working in his church, especially alongside the youth, and spending meaningful time with family and friends. His life reflected a genuine commitment to serving God and others, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Onie and Oliver McElhaney; Billy and Margaret Crabtree; Troy and Christine Humphrey; James and Pearlie McAlister Harmon; and a nephew, Braxton Huffman.

Survivors include his wife, Faith McElhaney; his daughter, Ella McElhaney; his parents, Rev. Jim and Regina McElhaney; his sister, Nicole McElhaney; his in-laws, Arnold and Marylou Humphrey; his grandfather, Ray Harmon; and other relatives, church family, and many dear friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Scottsville Word of Life with Rev. Dean Caldwell and Rev. Josh McClure officiating. Burial will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Hector, Arkansas, under the direction of Humphrey Funeral Service.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday at Humphrey Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Scottsville Word of Life Building Fund, 6275 SR 27, Hector, AR 72843, for the completion of the church building that Nathan helped to design.
