Nathaniel Leon Adams
Nathaniel "Nate or Adam" Leon Adams, a devoted family man, dedicated public servant, and proud veteran, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 2:57 p.m. in East Meadow, New York, at the age of 98.
Born on October 3, 1927, in Asheville, North Carolina, Nate was the son of Thomas and Eliza Adams. He grew up in Asheville before proudly serving his country as a member of the Armed Forces. Following his service, he dedicated his professional life to maintaining the city's essential infrastructure as a long-time MTA Signal Maintainer. Outside of his transit work, Nate was widely known as a skilled Electrician and Handyman, always ready to lend his expertise and quiet generosity to anyone in need of assistance.
Nate's defining characteristics were his unwavering love of life and his passion for dance, which brought him and his wife great joy. He was also deeply committed to his community and nation. He was an active and passionate member of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and the New Democrat Coalition. As a devoted advocate for veterans, he was a member of the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) and regularly supported and donated to various youth and specialized organizations.
Nate is survived by his beloved wife, Francine Adams. He was preceded in death by his sister, Sarah Worley (nee Adams), and his sons, Mark Adams and Anthony Adams. He will be deeply missed by his daughters Patricia Babb, April Rafael-Adams, Angela Porter, and Donna Green, his brother Lafayette Adams, and a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and grandchildren and devoted friends.
A Memorial Wake Service will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
at International Funeral Home, 1761 Amsterdam Ave., New York, NY 10031.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to International Funeral Services in the care of Francine Adams.
