Nathaniel Cavalea Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thomas M. Gallagher Funeral Home on Sep. 7, 2025.
Nathaniel "Neil" Anthony Cavalea, 82, of Stamford, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on September 6, 2025.

Born on April 9, 1943, in Port Chester, New York, Neil was the only child of Anthony "Chick" Cavalea and Jennie (Legato) Cavalea. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His life was a testament to his strong work ethic, his love for his family, and his kind, humorous spirit.

For nearly 50 years, Neil worked as an auto body repairman at Pray Body Shop in Greenwich and Stamford, Connecticut. He was meticulous and proud of his flawless work, but he most valued the friendships he made with his colleagues, who became like a second family to him.

Neil was a gentle soul with a fierce loyalty to his loved ones. He enjoyed bowling, playing the lottery, listening to the "oldies" and unwinding with a gin on the rocks. He especially cherished the time he spent with his children, creating lasting memories while making homemade spaghetti sauce and meatballs and watching Dallas Cowboys games with his daughter, coaching and playing football and baseball with his son, and proudly serving in the roll of best man at his son's wedding. Neil's greatest joy, however, came from making others laugh, a gift he shared freely with everyone he met.

Neil is survived by his beloved wife of 59 years, Cheryl (Dooley) Cavalea; his daughter, Kimberly Cavalea; his son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Claire Cavalea; and his cherished granddaughter, Samantha. He was predeceased by his parents.

In keeping with Neil's wishes, no services will be held. To honor him, the family requests that you consider trying to make someone smile or laugh today.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas M Gallagher Funeral Home 104 Myrtle Ave Stamford, CT (203)-359-9999.
