Nathaniel O'Brien Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by All Veterans Funeral & Cremation - Colorado Springs on Mar. 7, 2026.
A much-loved husband, son, and brother, Nate O'Brien, 36, of Fountain, Colorado, succumbed to suicide at his home on February 5th, 2026. He had bravely confronted and battled with PTSD following two tours to Iraq for as long as he was able. He was born March 25th, 1989, in Corpus Christi, Texas and resided in a number of different states before settling in Fountain, Colorado in 2024.

He served in the United States Army from 2007 to 2011 and was honorably discharged following two combat deployments in the middle east. Following this, he worked as an HVAC Technician until 2024 when he began working for United Refrigeration in Colorado Springs. Nate enjoyed his work and co-workers at United Refrigeration immensely and had planned to stay with the company until retirement.

Nathaniel was an avid gamer. He most enjoyed playing his PlayStation at home with his dog Charlie but would occasionally participate in a Dungeons and Dragons Campaign or Magic the Gathering game. He had just begun taking up hobbies such as painting, hiking, and pool at the time of his passing and showed promise at all three. It was his dream to eventually attend college to study Psychology. Helping others through their own struggles with mental health crises was a passion he spoke of frequently.

Nathaniel is survived by his wife, Amy (Servalli) O'Brien of Fountain; mother of his children Crystal Cole of Colorado Springs; son Brandon O'Brien; daughter Kiera O'Brien; son Logan O'Brien; mother Katherine Benoit; brother Ethan Wiley; sister Katerina Williams; brother Jack Williams; step-father Lee Williams; lifelong friend Shaniel Narayan; and close friend Kyle Trimble.

A memorial service will be held at 4:00pm Friday, March 13th, 2026, at All Veterans Funeral Home, Colorado Springs. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to a charity supporting combat veterans struggling with PTSD.
