Nathaniel Sandoval, affectionately known as "Acorn" or "Neno" to his close friends and family, passed away July 18, 2024, at the age of 18, as a result of an auto accident in North Platte.
Nathaniel was born Sept. 2, 2005, in Lincoln to Jennifer Van Vleet. He was known for his larger-than-life personality and his love for basketball and sports. He cherished every moment spent with family and friends, often showing affection through his signature "Neno Hugs." His free-spirited nature made him hard to contain, always ready with a hug or a laugh. Through thick and thin, Nathaniel had a persistent trust in God, often uttering the words, "God's got me."
Nathaniel's passions extended beyond basketball, including his avid support for the Broncos. He was always willing to help those in need.
Nathaniel was preceded in death by his great-grandfather Bob VanVleet, grandmother Mercy King; aunt, Alaina Sandoval; great-aunts, Linda Ritterbush and Cindy Olson; cousins, Anitra Huddleston and Katherine Ritterbush. He is survived by his mother, Jennifer VanVleet of Ogallala; sister, Hope Cordova and significant other, Nate Barbee; brothers, Anthony & Matthew Sandoval and Eli Summar; nephews, Ricky, Asher, and Drew Barbee; grandparents, Rod and Theresa Horn & Mel and Sandra Sandoval, all of Ogallala; and a large extended family.
Memorial service will be on Friday, July 26, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at New Hope Church with Pastor Matt Waitley officating. No inurnment of cremains is planned at this time.
Memorial Book signing will be Thursday, July 25, 2024, at Prairie Hills Funeral Home Chapel in Ogallala from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Nathaniel's memory for later designation. Condolences may be shared at prairiehillsfuneralhome.com, where the services will be streamed live.
