Neal David Mitchell, Jr.
November 23, 1944 - February 6, 2025
Plainfield - Neal D. Mitchell, Jr., 80, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully February 6, 2025, in William W. Backus Hospital.
He was the loving husband of Brenda (Witherell) Mitchell. Born in Plymouth, New Hampshire, he was the son of the late Neal Sr and Viola (Madore) Mitchell.
In addition to his wife, Neal is survived by his children, Shana Mitchell Douglas and Greg Mitchell of Plainfield. Four Grandchildren, Dylan and Ryan Schroth, Haley Douglas and Gregory Mitchell, Jr. all of Plainfield, and three great-grandchildren, Carter and Olivia Schroth and Ryan Schroth, sister Norma Raymond of Norwich, CT and brother James Mitchell of Plymouth, NH.
Neal proudly served his Country in the Vietnam War as an aircraft mechanic. Neal retired from EB after 40 years of service.
After his retirement, he spent much of his time as House Committee Chairman at the Plainfield VFW Post 5446.
Neal and Brenda spent 50 years together creating a lifetime of memories.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with Neal's family from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 at Doughtery Brothers Funeral Home, 595 Norwich Rd, Plainfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm in St John Church, 10 Railroad Ave, Plainfield. Burial to follow in St John Cemetery. For memorial guestbook visit www.DoughertyBrosFuneralHome.com
