Neida was born on October 10, 1940, in New Hebron to Dan and Helen Sullivan Cliburn. Neida was raised in the Crooked Creek Community and attended New Hebron High School. She dedicated her professional life to serving others through her work, spending over 30 years with A&P Grocery before transitioning to SEFCO Electrical Supply as a bookkeeper, where she worked diligently for 25 years until her retirement.
A lover of nature, Neida especially enjoyed her long walks through wooded trails, where the stillness of God's creation nurtured her body and soul. Her green thumb was evident in her well-tended yard, where she took great pride in planting and raising various flowers and plants. In addition, she will also be remembered for her love of watching and feeding the birds, most especially the hummingbirds and cardinals.
Neida was a devoted fan of the Atlanta Braves, always cheering for her team with unwavering enthusiasm. A member of the Southside Baptist Church in Jackson, she found immense joy in teaching the preschool class in Sunday School, where her warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on countless young lives.
Above all, Neida cherished her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she took an active role in all aspects of their lives, nurturing their growth with her love and guidance. She will be remembered not only for her dedication to her work and her passion for nature but, most importantly, for the love she shared with her family and friends.
Neida is preceded in death by her parents, Dan and Helen Cliburn and her brother, Donald Earl Cliburn.
Her memory will forever be cherished by her daughters, Christy Oneida Covington (Russell Prisock) of Flowood, Lora June Covington of Richland; the father of her children, Walter Franklin Covington; sisters, Iva Mae Daniels of Stumptown, June Smith of Carson and her brothers, Homer Cliburn of Prentiss, Danny Lee Cliburn (Reba) of Silver Creek, Ricky Eugene Cliburn (Beth) of Sontag, and Mark Cliburn of Silver Creek.
