Neil Allen Baxter, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away unexpectedly in the hospital at the age of 40 on Monday September 22, 2025.
Born on May 14, 1985, Neil was a man whose life was deeply rooted in passion, loyalty, and dedication to his family and friends. Born with an easy smile and a quick wit, Neil was known for his humor and ability to bring joy to those around him. He loved making others laugh, often alleviating even the heaviest of moments with his good-natured jokes.
He was a graduate of Lassiter High School in Marietta, and Kennesaw State University. Neil and Susan met in 2003 as students at Lassiter, sharing a love of fantasy, sci-fi, and anime. When Susan left for Pennsylvania to continue her education, Neil followed. They lived in Lewisburg, PA for two years before returning to Georgia and getting married in 2016. They were high school sweethearts that grew into true soul mates. They truly brought out the best in each other.
Neil was a loving, devoted husband and a proud father, finding his greatest happiness in his family. He is survived by his loving wife and their 14 month old son, Dylan, who brought immense joy and purpose to his days. He was also a devoted son. As his mother battled cancer, he spent as much time as he could with her, and often brought Dylan along so she could get to know her grandson. He was a passionate fan of auto racing, football, and baseball. In addition to doting on his family, his weekends were often spent surrounded by the hum of engines or the sound of ball games on TV.
For many years, Neil served as the Automotive Parts Manager at the Hennessy Porsche Service Center in Atlanta, where his sharp knowledge, strong work ethic, and love of performance cars made him a trusted and respected figure among colleagues and customers alike. He enjoyed watching cars race around the test tracks at the Porsche facility.
Though his time here was far too short, Neil's humor, kindness, and devotion to his loved ones will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Neil is survived by his wife, Susan (Haverly) Baxter, and their 1 year old son, Dylan, both of Atlanta. He also leaves behind his father, Douglass Baxter, and a sibling, Anna Baxter, both of Marietta, Georgia. He is predeceased by his mother, Susan (Roberts) Baxter.
