He was born and raised in Ovid Colorado and attended Ovid schools. After completing his education, he enlisted into the U.S. Army National Guard and served for 2 years. Neil married his soulmate Joyce H. Pingel on September 19th, 1959. Into this union three daughters were born. Kim, Kathy and Karla.
He was a "Jack of all trades", working for several years in the oil fields and many of those years were overseas. He then relocated in 2004 to Arizona where he and Joyce worked together managing and maintaining several different RV parks. After 18 years he decided it was time to get back to Colorado to be closer to his family. They returned to his hometown of Ovid, and he took a part time position with D & L meat company there. Neil was very passionate about his relationship with God and returned to the Julesburg Christian Church where he attended services as a child. He was baptized in the church and also married his love Joyce there. He was a Deacon. He also showed his love for Christ through his music, singing often at the altar until his blindness forced him to stop. He was very loving and caring for his church family. They were very important to him. His pastor was special to him because Neil has known Alan Harris and family all his life.
