Neil “Chip” M. Christensen, age 73, of Erie, passed away Friday, March 15th in the comfort of his home surrounded by loved ones.

He was born in Erie on April 20, 1950 to the late Elmer and Rita Christensen. Chip was an Academy High School Class of 1968 graduate, following which he enlisted in the U.S. Airforce and obtained the rank of Sargent.

He was the proud owner of “Christensen Cleaning” and was later employed until his retirement as a custodian for the Erie School District. Chip’s greatest joy in life was his family. He and his wife of 48 years raised three daughters together. Chip, also referred to as “Mr. C.” was a fatherly figure to many. He was known for his fun, loving personality and open-door policy that provided countless memories and comfort to all who spent time with him, especially at the kitchen table. Chip was a devoted Browns fan. His favorite pastimes included time spent with his grandchildren and spoiling his beloved dog, Dude. He also enjoyed naps, boating, listening to music and chatting on the phone.

Chip is survived by his daughters, Kelly Christensen, Mandi Oros (Paul), and Kara Barczyk. He is further survived by his grandchildren, Devon Christensen (Tamara Lasanta), Jerrod Jeffries, Jasen Bradshaw, Hayden and Isabella Barczyk; great granddaughters, Roszarie and Yaszara Christensen; sister, Kathy (William) Herniman, several nieces and nephews, and in-laws. In addition to his parents, Chip is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Christensen, brothers, David (Helen) and Jon (Sandy) Christensen, and his son-in-law, Christopher Barczyk.

Friends are invited to call on the family Thursday, March 21, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 6:00 p.m. at Burton Quinn Scott West Ridge Funeral Home, 3801 West Ridge Road, Erie. A special thanks goes to The UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and UPMC Hospice for their phenomenal comfort and care.
