Neil Hall Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Skinner Funeral Home - Eaton Rapids on Mar. 16, 2026.
Neil C. Hall of Eaton Rapids, Michigan passed away peacefully at home on Friday, March 13, 2026, at the age of 94. Neil was born January 10, 1932, in Eaton Rapids, Michigan, the son of Clarence and Francis (Harshey) Hall. He was raised in Hamlin Township on the family farm that the Hall family has owned since 1836. Neil graduated from Eaton Rapids High School in the Class of 1949.

Neil's life was filled with three passions- farming, hunting and fishing, and his family.

For more than 60 years, Neil had a deep passion for farming on his family's land using his favorite tractors- his John Deere 530 and the 630. In addition to farming corn crops, he created a dedicated wildlife refuge on the northeast corner of his property. He spent countless hours mowing the trails within his refuge and nurturing more than 3,000 white pine trees and 18 apple trees. He used his fields of corn to maintain this ideal habitat for wildlife, which housed many trophy bucks.

Neil was an avid outdoorsman and greatly loved to hunt and fish.

Neil met and married the love of his life, Judith (Florian) Hall in the summer of 1961. They brought four sons into the world. Combining his second and third passion together they enjoyed making numerous trips to northern Michigan, the Upper Peninsula and they traveled to Canada to fish. The UP hunting trips were shared with multiple generations which became a cherished tradition over the years.

Neil spent his professional career working at the Fisher Body General Motors plant in Lansing. He worked in the Environmental Services from 1965 until his retirement in 2005. Neil was a proud member of UAW Local 602.

Neil was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Judith Hall; his son, Martin Hall; and his cherished older sister, Virginia Strahan.

He is survived by his older brothers, Bruce Hall, Knoxville, TN, and Edward Hall, Eaton Rapids; sons, Brian (Linda) Hall, Rose City, MI, Christopher Hall, Eaton Rapids, MI and Donovan Hall, Leslie, MI; grandchildren, Russell (Amber) Hall, Rose City, MI, Benjamin (Hali) Hall, South Branch, MI, Alexander Hall, Manistee, MI, Elmer Hall, Charlotte, MI, Tate Hall, Frederic, MI, and Tierra Hall, Howell, MI; great-grandchildren, Lucas Hall, Kylie Sawade, Samantha Hall, James Hall, Dominic Anderson, Charles Anderson, and Amelia Anderson; as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at Skinner Funeral Home in Eaton Rapids. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 a.m. prior to the service. For those desiring to do so, memorial contributions may be made to the NRA in Neil's memory.
