Neil F. McGlone – obituary
Neil F. McGlone, age 64 of Canonsburg, formerly of Houston, TX, passed away unexpectedly on November 15, 2021 at his home. Neil was the son of the late Desmond and Helen McGlone and dear brother to Dennis (Janice) of Slippery Rock, Kathy of Sewickley, Brian (Susan) of Guilford, Ct. and the late Barry. Neil was the fun uncle to 8 nieces and nephews, their spouses and 18 great nieces and nephews. Neil's love of family and friends ran deep and wide; he knew no enemies. He maintained close connections with childhood and high school friends, especially his best pal, Moe.
Neil was originally from Peters Township and a 1975 graduate of Peters Township High School. He went on to West Virginia University and graduated with a BS in Journalism. He had a long career with several firms; he was most proud of the time he served as European Communications Manager for Texas Instruments in Nice, France for 3 years and a year each in Singapore & Taiwan before returning to Texas. In recent years, Neil was an independent representative for Legal Shield. After being away for 38 years, Neil returned to the Pittsburgh area in December 2020 to be closer to family and friends. During his return travels, his best buddy & loyal dog, Oscar got away, never to be found, a devastating event for Neil.
Neil was an avid golfer. He volunteered with First Tee-Greater Houston, working with young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life enhancing values and promoting healthy choices through the game of golf. Three golf adventures with his brothers, "The McGlone Brothers' Tour" created lasting memories and tall tales. For his 60th birthday, Neil visited brother Brian in CT for a multi-day member/guest tournament. Although they didn't take away any trophies, they continued to talk about that special time together. Most recently, Neil enjoyed working with the grounds crew at St. Clair Country Club,
Neil also enjoyed travel, and his hometown teams, especially the Steelers. Even while living away from Pittsburgh, he proudly waved his Terrible Towel.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Benedict the Abbot Church in McMurray, PA. Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his mother, father and brother, Barry. Since there will be no viewing, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Tee-Greater Houston at:

Godspeed to you brother; we will miss you but remain wrapped in the warmth of our memories.

"Lives are like rivers: Eventually they go where they must. Not where we want them to." Richard Russo

I'm so very saddened to learn of Neil's passing. I knew Neil since grade school and reconnected with him several times during our long often intersecting journeys. Neil was one of the gentlest, caring and social people I have ever known.

I still reminisce, visiting those silly, fun times we had in grade school when we first met. Rest well my friend.

We were friends with Neil; we rescued and bottle fed Oscar, Neil's beloved dog. We are shocked and saddened to hear of Neil's passing. May God Bless Neil and all his family and friends as we grieve his departure from this Earth.
