Neil Edward Shaw, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, valiant Vietnam War veteran, dedicated firefighter, and passionate angler, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, at the age of 76 in Phoenix, Arizona.
He was born on August 3, 1948 in Medford, Oregon. He attended Oakgrove/Hedrick for primary education and graduated from Medford High School. Neil dedicated his life to service while serving his country with honor as a member of the Air Force from 1967 to 1971 during the Vietnam War. After returning home, Neil Shaw continued to serve his community as a firefighter with Jackson County District 3 from 1971 until his retirement in 2002. His unwavering commitment to protecting lives and property made him a respected figure in the local community.
Beyond his military and firefighting careers, Neil was a devoted family man. He was known for his vibrant and fun-loving spirit. He cherished spending time with his loved ones and took great pride in his role as a husband, father, grandfather, and great-
grandfather. In his leisure, Neil was an avid outdoorsman. His love for hunting, fishing, camping, and exploring the local landscapes defined many of his happiest moments. His legacy will live on through the countless lives he touched.
Neil Edward Shaw is survived by his loving wife, Ione Shaw; brother, James Shaw; daughter, Tina Goff; sons, Eric and Kevin Anderson, and bonus son, Eric Bauer; his grandchildren, Kendra Griffin, Carson Anderson, Justin Anderson, Jada Anderson, Kylie Anderson, Tara Goff and Miah Goff; and his great-grandchildren, Marcus Guerra and unborn Dakota Widger. He was preceded in death by his father, Ken Shaw, mother, Marguerite Shaw, and brother, Ronald Shaw.
A memorial service will be held on November 23, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Conger Morris in Central Point, Oregon. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Crater Foundation in Central Point, Oregon, honoring Neil's legacy of community support and love for his family.
