It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Neka Shirron Drake, who departed this life on March 14, 2025, at the age of 44. Neka was born on June 27, 1980, and throughout her life, she embodied the true meaning of compassion and unconditional love. Those who knew her best would describe Neka as exceptionally caring, always placing the needs of others before her own. Her trusting nature and compassionate heart made her a beacon of light in the lives of many.
Neka had a distinctive flair for fashion and took great joy in dressing beautifully for any occasion. Her parents lovingly referred to her as "Queen Neka," a testament to her regal presence and grace. The special bond she shared with her mother was particularly noteworthy-her mother affectionately known as "Mamabug" and Neka as her "little lady bug," a tender connection that remained strong throughout her life.
When Neka cared for someone, she did so with her whole heart, without reservation. Her greatest pride and joy were her two beautiful daughters, whom she cherished deeply and loved beyond measure.
Neka's warmth, kindness, and loving spirit will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. While she may no longer be with us physically, her legacy of love and compassion will continue to live on through the hearts of her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched. May she rest in peace.
To my beloved sister, it feels surreal to write this, knowing you're no longer here with us. The silence that follows your absence and the pain of losing you is a constant ache in my heart. I know you're in a better place, resting peacefully in heaven, but that doesn't make it any easier to say goodbye. I'll always cherish the good memories we made together and the countless laughs we shared. I'll miss your big bright smile, your funny jokes, watching you dance and sing to your favorite songs, watching you dress in your stylish fashion. I'm really going to miss hearing you say "THERE GO MY EYES" which made me smile everytime. I'm so grateful for the years we were able to share. Though you may be gone, your spirit lives on in the lives of those you touched. I'll carry your memory with me always, and I'll never forget the love we shared. Rest in peace, my beautiful sister. I love you more than words can say. Your sister, Cynthia Griffith
