Nelda F. Dodd, age 71, gained her wings on December 20, 2024. She was born May 9,1953 to Fleecie and Raymond Perritte.
Nelda was born and raised in Nacogdoches, Tx where she attended Nacogdoches high school, Douglas high school, and Delmar college where she obtained her GED. She had a 28-year career at Walmart, where she was promoted to department manager and later retired in 2017.
Nelda loved being outdoors! Rain or shine, she was outside. From gardening to sitting on her porch watching the birds fly by. She loved hiking down to her pond despite having to fight tooth and nail to get through the brush. She also enjoyed going on long drives for sightseeing and for occasionally picking pecans. Most of all, she loved visits from her family. From casual conversations to playing hide and seek, she took in every moment and cherished every memory.
Nelda is survived by her children- Frankie Smith; husband Kenny Smith, Lisa Barr; husband David Barr, Roger Dodd; wife Brittney Dodd, Tina Dodd, April Dodd, Brandon Strubel, and Braydon Bush, alongside her brother Raymond Perritte Jr. Known as "Nanny," Nelda has 16 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who knew her as "great grandma." She is proceeded in death by both of her parents, Fleecie Faye and Raymond E. Perritte as well as her grandson Andrew Nixon.
Our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend was an exceptionally selfless, courageous, and strong person, and her presence in our lives is something for which we will always be thankful.
Though her time with us was brief, the memories and moments we shared will always be with us. She will forever be deeply missed, yet we take comfort in knowing that her suffering has ended and that she has found everlasting peace.
As heaven's gates welcome her home, our only hope is that she continues watching over us, witnessing the unconditional love we hold for her.
