Nelda Henderson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers from Sep. 22 to Sep. 23, 2021.
Nelda Franks Henderson passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2021, in the comfort of The Willshire Place with her two daughters, Jamie Henderson Burns and Glenda Henderson Hutson, and son-in-law, Kevin Hutson, by her side. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, September 25, 2021, followed by a Celebration of Life led by Darrel McMillen at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, where family and friends will gather at 4:30 to share stories and memories celebrating Nelda's 92 years.

Nelda was born at home on January 16, 1929, to Marvin and Onita Franks in Dawson, Texas. She went on to graduate from Sands High School in Ackerly. Soon after, she met the love of her life, Herbert Dee Henderson. Herb and Nelda shared more than 67 years of marriage as they cultivated the legacy she leaves behind. Nelda worked by Herb's side while they farmed, managed Tatum Brothers Grain Elevators and the auction business, but her real love was as a homemaker. She loved to cook and entertain family and friends. She treasured her collections of cookbooks, rare dolls, and fine china, to name a few. Hosting holiday events and serving her family, friends, and community, Nelda decorated to the nines, creating welcoming environments for everyone who entered her home. Her family thought she collected Christmas trees!

Nelda was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Henderson, her father, James Marvin Franks, and her mother, Onita Martin Franks.

Survivors include her two daughters, Jamie Henderson Burns of Lubbock, TX, and Glenda Henderson Hutson of Sweetwater, TX. Her brother, Kenneth Franks of Midland, TX; her sister, Joyce Watts of Granbury, TX, grandchildren: Ashley and Daron Evans, Tausha and Chris Carlson, Courtney and Brent Clegg, Blake and Tiffany Burns, Bradley, and Brittany Burns, and Brittnee and Ricky Dobbs, and great-grandchildren: Cambree Clegg, Broc Burns, Carsyn Clegg, Kennedy Carlson, Cade Carlson, Reagan Burns, Hayden Burns, Sawyer Dobbs, and Cash Dobbs.

Nelda loved the Lord and was a living example of love, patience, and kindness. She was the spiritual leader for her family. She lived with a servant's heart in her marriage, family, community, and church. Nelda always found the silver lining; everything was always ""good, very good."" Her Christian values and attributes are instilled in the hearts of her family. Nelda's heart of love and contentment was contagious to us all.

Memorial contributions are welcome, and the family suggests Caregivers P.O. Box 114, Wolfforth, TX 79382, Hospice, or a charity of choice.
