Nelda Faye Herrera, 90, of San Antonio, Texas went to join the Lord on August 19, 2025 peacefully. Nelda was born on October 31, 1934 in Marfa, Texas to Jorge Navarrete and Ida Miller Navarrete. Nelda devoted her life to her family and her faith. She would go on to marry her husband of 63 years, Pedro M. Herrera, of Shafter, Texas on February 21, 1954. Together they had two daughters, Nelda Denise Herrera Lujan and Elsa Denette Herrera Guzman.

While she lived most of her life in Presidio, Texas, she would eventually move to San Antonio, Texas in 2001 to be closer to her family. She became a super fan of the San Antonio Spurs and would hardly ever miss a game on TV.

While she never held an official job title, she found her calling in life by supporting and caring for those closest to her. Some of the best memories of Nelda came when her sister came to town. Together they would go on shopping sprees and enjoy each others company creating memories that would last a lifetime. She loved spending time with her grandchildren outdoors and tending to her flowers and trees. She also enjoyed reading, crocheting and a corner piece of cake.

Nelda is preceded in death by her parents Jorge and Ida Navarrete and her husband of 63 years Pedro M. Herrera. She is survived by her sister Landa Rodriguez of Austin, Texas; daughters Nelda Denise Herrera Lujan (Enrique), Elsa Denette Herrera Guzman (Carlos) and grandchildren Danielle Marie Guzman, Pedro Enrique Lujan and Jorge Jesus Lujan all of San Antonio, Texas along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give a special thank you to her hospice nurse Angela and CNA Diana for their compassionate care and support to the family. Pallbearers include Danny Rubio, Carlos Nieto, Ernie Aguilar, Paco Brito, Jorge Lujan and Pedro Lujan. Honorary pallbearers are Carlos Guzman and Enrique Lujan.

Services for Nelda Herrera will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 17501 Nacogdoches Rd. San Antonio, Texas 78266.
