Nelda Rose Parks

Nelda Rose Parks, age 81, of Marion, IL passed away peacefully at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at her home.
She was born on August 11, 1944 in Benton, IL the daughter of Willard and Helen Margaret (Jones) Smith.
Nelda attended school in Benton, IL and was a graduate of Benton High School Class of 1962.
Her working career was as a Cosmetologist working at various salons in the area from 1980 until her retirement just 2 years ago.
She was of the Catholic faith.
In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing and was and excellent seamstress and cook. She also enjoyed managing her home and spending time in her yard gardening. Her family was a very important part of her life and she was proud of all their many accomplishments. She especially enjoyed hearing about all the many activities going on in their lives. The many memories created will now be cherished by those she leaves behind.
She is survived by two daughters, Kellie L. Winemiller of Leawood, KS and Leasa H. Jones and husband, Randy of Pittsburg, IL; four grandchildren, Casey Oxford of Marion, IL, Abbey Duncan and husband, Nick of Marion, IL, Collin Chornak and wife, Taylor of Marion, IL and Sydney Chornak of Kansas City, MO; four great grandchildren, Tritton Oxford, Jersey Oxford, Costner Duncan and Caden Chornak all of Marion, IL; brother, David Kearney and wife, Chris of Austin, TX, other extended family and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Georgianne Bennett and brother, Tommy Smith.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilson-McReynolds Funeral Home, 900 North Court Street, Marion, IL.
In accordance with her wishes there will not be any public service held. A private family inurnment will be next to her mother in Swofford Family Cemetery southeast of Benton, IL.
