Nelia Malazarte Gardner, born on July 5, 1982, in Manila, Philippines, and a cherished member of her community, left this world too soon on November 28, 2025, in Omaha. As we gather to honor her memory, we reflect on a remarkable woman whose life was filled with passion, ambition, and unconditional love for her family.
Nelia was a trailblazer in business, founding her own company, Sassyb's Social Media LLC, which showcased her enterprising spirit and creativity. Her career encompassed a variety of roles that included stints at notable establishments such as the Winnavegas Casino, H & R Block, Belle of Sioux City Casino, Lowe’s, Hard Rock Casino, LiveMe, and Mico. Through her professional journey, Nelia touched many lives and exemplified dedication and hard work.
Her academic pursuits were equally commendable, graduating from Culiat High School and later attending the Asian School of Arts and Science. In 2016, she earned a diploma in accounting from Northeast Community College, demonstrating her commitment to personal growth and education.
Nelia was a devoted mother and a loving figure to her children. She is survived by her adoring children: Darla Mae Dumo of Minnetonka, Minnesota; Fiona Dumo and Nino Dumo, both of Lincoln, Nebraska; and her sons James Nyle Kempers and Joah Kempers from Dakota City, Nebraska. They carry forward her spirit and the values she instilled in them.
Nelia’s passing marks the departure of a beloved wife, as she was married to Scott Dean Gardner, who preceded her in death in 2023. The loss of her parents also weighs heavily on the hearts of those who knew her. Nelia's journey was not solely defined by her accomplishments, but by the love and laughter she shared with those around her.
The legacy Nelia leaves behind is profound—a tapestry intricately woven with moments of joy, dedication to her work, and above all, an unwavering love for her family. As we celebrate her life and the light she brought to our world, we find solace in the memories we hold dear.
A visitation to honor Nelia will be held on December 5, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Mohr & Becker-Hunt Funeral Home in South Sioux City, Nebraska.
As we bid farewell to this extraordinary soul, we are grateful for the time we shared with Nelia Malazarte Gardner and the indelible mark she has left on our hearts.
