Nell Christy Obituary
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia Hunt Meador (2006) and John R. Meador, Jr. (1991), and by her niece, Stephanie Meador Gilmer (2021).
She is survived by her beloved husband, Tom Christy, whom she married in 2014; her brother, John R. Meador III, of Medina, Tennessee and his wife, Cindy; her nieces and nephews; and other cherished family members.
Nell attended Grahamwood Elementary School and graduated from East High School in Memphis in 1970. She earned her undergraduate degree from Lambuth College, and her graduate degree from Memphis State University. After college, she taught high school English. She later worked for Union Planters/Regions Bank for several years, before joining FedEx Corp., where she worked for 25 years before retiring in 2019.
In 2020, Nell and Tom moved to Loudon, Tennessee, to enjoy retirement. Nell was active in her church, St. Mark's Global Methodist Church in Louisville, Tennessee. She enjoyed golf, reading, daily crossword puzzles, weekly Bible study, cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide, spending time with friends, and quiet moments sitting on her back porch. She especially loved time spent with their dog, Major.
Nell will be remembered for her warmth, her love of learning, and the calm, steady presence she brought to those around her.
Services will be held on Saturday, Feb 21, 2026 at 11 am at St Mark's Global Methodist Church
3359 Louisville Rd, Louisville, TN 37777.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to St Mark's Global Methodist Church.

Once in high school, I spent the night at Nell's, and her family had a slide show. And right in the middle-- oops! -- was a photo of Nell's father, naked as a little baby, getting out of the shower. Mr. Meador jumped up and threw his body across the screen to block the image. But everyone else laughed and laughed. I think that's the kind of family they were-- loving, close and fun.
