Nell Lewis was born in Pensacola, Florida, on March 31, 1940, and died on the Lord's Day, January 5, 2025.
Nell was a lifelong resident of Santa Rosa County and attended the Allentown School, where, after graduation, she married her high-school sweetheart, Sidney Earl Lewis. They were married for 62 years and shared many wonderful adventures raising children and serving in their church. Nell and Sidney loved their church, Wallace Baptist, and have been members there since the 1970s. They raised their children there, and both served in many capacities as it held a special place in their hearts.
As a child, Nell followed the Lord and served Him in her church and community in many ways, such as teaching Sunday School, singing in the choir, serving as the church secretary, and playing the piano. She had many interests and talents and loved singing and playing the piano; she was an avid reader and a wonderful Southern cook-mostly of fried food. Caring for her plants and garden was a passion, and the day she died, her Christmas Cactus, which had also been her mother's, began to bloom. She was also an excellent seamstress, making many clothes, quilts, blankets, and stuffed animals for her children, their spouses, grandchildren, and many others. Nell retired from the Santa Rosa School System after many years of serving as a Librarian's aide.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, David and Alice Mae Strickland; and her loving husband, Sidney Earl Lewis.
She is survived by her children Vanessa Wyrosdick who is married to Tim; David Lewis, who is married to Susie; Stan Lewis, who is married to Kristin; and Luane Warr, who is married to Jim. Her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive her.
A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday January 9, 2025, at Wallace Baptist Church, 6601 Chumuckla Hwy Pace, Fl, 32571, with visitation from 10:00-11:00am and service at 11:00am.
Pastor Andy Martin will be officiating.
