Nellie Mae LaFleur

June 25, 1950 – October 19,2025

Nellie Mae Smith LaFleur, was born on June 25, 1950, in Harleton, Texas, to the late Roberta Walker and Sam Smith. She graduated from Harleton High School, where she was known for her kind spirit and quiet strength. At an early age, Nellie accepted Christ and began her walk of faith at New Prospect Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Will Smith. Her spiritual foundation shaped her life and her unwavering love for family and community.

In time, Nellie met the love of her life, Raphael LaFleur. Together they built a beautiful life and united in worship at Holy Bible Baptist Church, where they served faithfully and nurtured their family in love and faith.

Nellie was a devoted wife to Raphael, and a loving mother to four children: Yolanda LaFleur Jason LaFleur Sr.,Tara Flanagan-Davis, and the late Aretina LaFleur. She poured her heart into her family and found joy in the accomplishments and laughter of her children and grandchildren.

Her legacy continues through her seven cherished grandchildren: Arebrie (Burr), Brandon Powell, Jason LaFleur Jr., Gerald Flanagan, David Flanagan, Terrell Davis, and Gisselle' Davis, and three great-grandchildren: Zaden Flanagan, Amber Flanagan, and K'Yani LaFleur.

Nellie also leaves behind her uncle, Cecle Smith (Settle, Washington); aunt: , Bernice Houston (Oakland, CA), and two godchildren: Tracy LaFleur and

LaKisha Williams-along with many extended family members and dear friends who were touched by her grace, wisdom, and unwavering love.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Aretina LaFleur, her parents Roberta Walker and Sam Smith, and her grandparents L.E. & Aline Walker and Wade & Georgia Smith. Aunts Equilar William (Houston, TX) and Mable Mathis (Fort Worth, TX).

Nellie's presence brought warmth, guidance, and peace. She was a quiet nurturer, a strong spiritual pillar, and a true matriarch whose influence will carry on for generations
